Become a Junior Visiting Scholar

The period of tenure for a Junior Visiting Scholar of the Oxford Centre for Hebrew and Jewish Studies is normally between two and six months during term time (summer visits are not possible) and must include at least one University of Oxford term. Exceptionally, other lengths of time may be considered. Junior Visiting Scholars must be advanced in their doctoral or postdoctoral work.

As a Junior Visiting Scholar of the OCHJS, you will be invited to attend and participate in our academic activities. Additionally, you will be advised to apply for a Bodleian Readers Card to access the Bodleian Library system at your own cost (details may be found here). Upon completion of your Junior Visiting Scholar term, you will be required to submit a summary of your research for publication in our Annual Report.

Junior Visiting Scholars do not receive a stipend or any payment from the OCHJS. Additionally, Junior Visiting Scholars are responsible for making their own visa (if applicable), travel, and housing arrangements independently.

Applications for and queries regarding Junior Visiting Scholar status should be sent to the Academic Registrar, Ms Madeleine Trivasse, at registrar@ochjs.ac.uk. Applications may be submitted at any time in the academic year. Details of the application procedure and form can be downloaded below:
