Class Description: The course will introduce the students to Judeo-Spanish (Ladino, Judezmo or Spanyolit), the language of Sephardic Jews, which is still spoken among some 100,000-250,000 Jews, mainly in Israel and Turkey. In Beginners Ladino, the students will acquire basic knowledge of the grammar, syntax, and lexicon of the language through reading (both in Hebrew and Latin scripts) and listening to selections from the rich culture of Sephardic Jews.

Class Description: In Advanced Ladino, students will further their previous knowledge of grammar, syntax, and lexicon of the language through reading (in Hebrew, Latin, and Cyrillic scripts), discussing intricate topics in breakout rooms, and listening to selections from the rich culture of Sephardic Jews.
