Johannis Buxtorf II, Florilegium Hebraicum
Basel : Ludwig König's heirs, 1648.

Johannes Buxtorf the Younger (1599-1664) followed his father's track and became one of the leading Christian Hebraists of his time. As the proverb said: "The two Buxtorfs are as much alike as two eggs." In 1626, the young Buxtorf applied to the professorship of Hebrew in Leiden but was passed over in favour of Constantijn L'Empereur, and instead succeeded his father in the chair of Hebrew at Basel. His Florilegium Hebraicum, a collection of Hebrew sayings translated into Latin was printed by Ludwig König's heirs.
Our copy has pastedowns and flyleaves from an English printed book.
