Description:

Herbert Loewe wrote this poem shortly before he died. It was inspired by a Talmudic passage about scholars (bBer 64a), and was included in his memorial service held by the Cambridge University Jewish Society on 5 November 1940.

Beneath the poem, cover of the Cambridge University Jewish Society memorial service, booklet of the Address delivered at the service at the Richmond Road Synagogue in Oxford (1 December 1940), and of the service at Queens' College, Cambridge (23 October 1940), of which Herbert was made an Honorary Fellow.
