Books & Periodicals
The collection includes a fine and extensive Rabbinic library, unique in Europe, with the Louis Jacobs and the Montefiore collections at its core, and complemented by the Kressel, Elkoshi and Hugo Gryn collections. As part of the Coppenhagen Collection, there is also a wide-ranging group of books on Dutch Jewry, the largest in Europe outside the Low Countries. Modern Jewish History is well covered. A unique resource are the Yizkor books, the largest set of its kind in Europe. The library holds a large fund of modern and contemporary Hebrew literature. Yiddish literature is well represented, particularly with regard to works produced in South Africa. Current and past periodicals in Jewish studies are available for consultation.
