The Significance of the Dead Sea Scrolls

An international panel of leading experts in the study of the Dead Sea Scrolls will discuss the importance of the discovery of the Scrolls for understanding ancient interpretations of the Bible, the nature of Jewish society in the unsettled conditions of Judaea in the last days of the Second Temple, and the development of both Rabbinic Judaism and Christianity.

On display will be facsimiles of scroll fragments, including (for the first time in the UK) a facsimile of the entire Isaiah Scroll, by kind permission of Facsimile Editions Ltd.

The Panel Discussion will begin at 7pm and there will be a drinks reception to follow
From 6-7pm guests will have the opportunity to view the Museum’s galleries
